DAV is a dietary supplement based on α-lipoic acid, magnesium, vitamin B6 and vitamin D useful in case of need or reduced intake with the diet of the components present.
Magnesium improves normal muscle function and intervenes in the cell division process. Magnesium is to a great extent the closure of the heartbeat, the maintenance of muscle power and the efficiency of the nervous system. It is also involved in bone formation processes. Promotes the physiology of the central nervous system and the transmission of impulses. It can contribute to tiredness and fatigue. Magnesium is present in traces (about 25 grams) in the human body, concentrated for about 60% in the bones, 27% in the muscles and for the remaining part in the various cells of the organization.
Magnesium and vitamin B6 together contribute to the normal nervous system and to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.
Furthermore, vitamin B6 helps regulate hormonal activity.
Vitamin D supports the function of the immune system and the muscular system.
Alpha lipoic acid (or tiopic acid or simpler ALA) is a small amphipathic molecule concentrated on a mitochondrial level. It is no coincidence that lipoic acid is fundamental in oxidative metabolism, or in the processes that enter the mitochondria - starting from glucose, fatty acids or other energy sources - leading to the production of ATP through the Krebs cycle. Alpha-lipoic acid is therefore an important coenzyme of cellular energy metabolism. In this way alpha-lipoic acid works at energy and energy levels and supports the correct cellular functionality. ALA is a powerful endogenous antioxidant that takes place mainly through activity as against cellular energy metabolism, also as an antioxidant and as an anti-inflammatory.
Thanks to the contribution of magnesium, Dav could be useful:
- deficiency states (decreased intake of magnesium with the diet) or needs (for example due to intense sporting activity or increased sweating);
- in the presence of muscle cramps and excessive muscle tension;
- in periods of great stress and nervous tension, since magnesium is also placed at the normal psychological function;
-only if the doctor considers it appropriate, in a preventive-therapeutic key to minor ailments, such as premenstrual syndrome, primary dysmenorrhea, irritability and headaches (headache).
Thanks to the contribution of alpha-lipoic acid, Dav could be useful:
- for the antioxidant and neuroprotective action;
- only if the doctor deems it appropriate, in the supportive treatment of the relative neuropathies.
Thanks to the joint contribution of alpha-lipoic acid and magnesium, Dav could be useful in pregnancy, under specific indication and medical supervision:
- in maintaining the phase of uterine quiescence throughout the physiological period of pregnancy;
-in all those cases of risk of contractile activity such as invasive procedures of prenatal diagnosis (villocentesis, amniocentesis, cordocentesis).

Preliminary clinical studies have demonstrated the efficacy of magnesium and alpha lipoic acid supplementation in healthy patients in reducing reducing the incidence of preterm uterine contractions, which are one of the main symptoms related to abortion and preterm birth, and the related episodes of hospitalization, compared to placebo.
However, other studies based on large cohorts of patients are needed to confirm the effects found here.
